History on the Highway

Today was our first day in the tour bus and we spent a considerable amount of time with it on Britain’s highways. We took a drive to a very busy Stonehenge where we spent an hour on an audio tour that described the considerable history of the site. It was a bit of a rushed tour — we probably could have used at least 90 minutes there — but we were on a schedule and we were quickly back on the road to Bath.
While in Bath we briefly walked through a historic church before beginning the tour of the Roman Baths Museum, a very interesting description of the hot springs fed by 10,000 year water pushed up from within the Earth. We then stopped for our first instance of tasty tea and scones.
After returning to London this evening we went to Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant near out hotel. It was tasty, though not excellent. Afterwards we walked over to Piccadilly Circus where we heard the fireworks from (we assume) the Paralympic closing ceremonies and stopped for a little shopping. Alix was like a kid in a candy store (literally) when we stopped by the M&M World store.
Well, that was our day today! Tomorrow we have a busy final day in London planned before we leave for Paris on Tuesday.
